Oral surgery refers to any surgical procedure performed in or around the mouth and jaw, which can be done by any Dental Healthcare Provider (DHCP) such as general dentist, periodontist, endodontist, prosthodontist or pediatric dentist, after receiving the appropriate education and training.
If more complicated procedures are necessary, these are best performed by a dental specialist who has had advanced residency training and clinical experience (Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon).
